The route processor (RP) card is the system controller for the Cisco CRS 8-slot Line Card Chassis Enhanced router. It performs route processing and distributes forwarding tables to the MSCs.

What is an RP in networking?
The single tree-based multicast system uses a Rendezvous Point (RP) based message dissemination scheme. That is, a sender of the multicast group sends a message to the root or the RP node of the tree, which then forwards the message along the tree to all receivers.
What is RP router?
In order to be able to use multicast on your network you need to configure one or more rendezvous point routers (RP routers). An RP router accepts registrations both from multicast receivers and senders. An RP router is a regular PIM-SM router that is chosen to be the RP router for certain multicast groups as well.
What is RP in PIM?
An RP acts as the meeting place for sources and receivers of multicast data. In a PIM-SM network, sources must send their traffic to the RP. This traffic is then forwarded to receivers down a shared distribution tree.
What is an RP address?
Configures a device interface as a rendezvous point (RP).
What is RP mapping?
RP mapping agents store the information that is embedded in the RP announcements in a cache inside a group-to-RP mapping. The RP mapping agents join a multicast group 224.0. 1.39, where they receive the RP announcements. RP MAs send advertisements to a popular multicast group known as Cisco-RP-Discovery (224.0. 1.40).
What is RP content online?
Content in an RP film may include things like violence, sexual references, offensive language, drug use and suicide. Written classification decisions on RP films are available upon request from the Classification Office.
What does CL RP and AP mean on a router?
Refer to the figure for the WAP6804's mode and move the switch to AP (AP mode), RP (Repeater mode) or CL (Client mode).
What does IP PIM RP address do?
Description. This command specifies the Rendezvous Point (RP) for a particular multicast group.
What is PE and CE router?
The PE (Provider Edge) is the router that is located at the provider network and that is connected to the CE (Customer Edge) router that is located the customer premises. When talking about PE-CE, you often will also see the P router which is a provider router that is located in the core of the provider's network.
What is RP in multicast routing?
A rendezvous point (RP) is required only in networks running Protocol Independent Multicast sparse mode (PIM-SM). The protocol is described in RFC 2362. In PIM-SM, only network segments with active receivers that have explicitly requested multicast data will be forwarded the traffic.
What is Cisco PIM?
Protocol Independent Multicast (PIM) is a collection of multicast routing protocols, each optimized for a different environment. There are two main PIM protocols, PIM Sparse Mode and PIM Dense Mode. A third PIM protocol, Bi-directional PIM, is less widely used.
What is the IP address for the Cisco RP announce multicast group?
0.39 and 224.0. 1.40, for Auto-RP configuration in order to announce the RP in the multicast group.
What is the difference between P and PE router?
Provider Edge (PE) routers are those routers within a Service Provider core network that connect directly to a router at the customer's site. Provider (P) routers are all those routers within the VPN core network that are not edge routers.
What is RA router?
The RA contains the network part of the Layer 3 IPv6 address (IPv6 Prefix). The host uses the IPv6 prefix provided by the RA; generates the universally unique host part of the address (interface identifier), and combines the two to derive the complete address.
What is router Traffic Meter?
Traffic metering allows you to monitor the volume of Internet traffic that passes through the router Internet port. You can set limits for traffic volume. To monitor Internet traffic: Launch a web browser from a computer or wireless device that is connected to your router's network.
What is a SDR router?
Secure domain routers (SDRs) provide a means of partitioning a router into multiple, independent routers. SDRs perform routing functions in the same manner as a physical router but share resources with the rest of the system.
