In tor you have to pass through 4 different IP addresses to visit a site WHILE in any other browser there is only 1 IP address (your Internet IP). This is the main reason of Connection time out in TOR. You can overcome this by increasing your Internet speed or by trying “new tor Circuit for this site” option in Tor.
