Can we change Apache port in Ubuntu?
So first open the /etc/apache2/ports. conf file using a text editor. Then save the configuration file and restart the Ubuntu Apache web server. Since we changed the default port, we also need to configure Apache virtual hosts to listen to the new port number.
Can I use port 587 instead 25?
Originally, the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) used port 25. Today, SMTP should instead use port 587 — this is the port for encrypted email transmissions using SMTP Secure (SMTPS). Port 465 is also used sometimes for SMTPS. However, this is an outdated implementation and port 587 should be used if possible.
Can the default port for Apache be changed?
Open and edit 000-default. conf file and change the port to 8081 as shown in the below image. Finally, to apply changes and make Apache bind on the new port, restart the daemon and check local network sockets table using netstat or ss command. Port 8081 in listening should be displayed in your server network table.
Can we change port 443?
The port number is not "magic", you can use any port from 1-65535 you like. There are only 2 conditions: Both the server and the client have to (agree to) use the same port number.
Is 8443 same as 443?
The key difference between HTTPS port 443 and port 8443 is that Apache Tomcat uses 8443 to open SSL text service to avoid conflicts, whereas 443 is a web browsing port meant to secure data transmission between web browsers and servers.
