What engines are best for SSTO?

Currently the TurboJet Engine is by far the most sensible choice. While the Basic Jet Engine is lower cost and consumes less fuel and money, the turbojet is capable of decent performance at high altitudes where the Basic Jet Engine cannot keep up.

What is single stage to orbit KSP?

A single-stage-to-orbit craft (also known as a SSTO) is any craft that can reach orbit without having to rely on multiple stages or jettisoning components. A typical SSTO takes off from a runway or launchpad and reaches orbit with only the fuel stored within the tanks of the craft.

How do you land a plane in KSP?

To land the plane, you need to touch down on your landing gear as gently as you can. The landing gear on the Aeris-3A is the LY-10 landing gear, which has a maximum impact speed of 50 m/s. You can control your speed both by changing your thrust and by pitching up and down.

How much Delta V does an SSTO need?

The ideal velocity increment, Delta V, required from an SSTO-RRL is then about 9000 m/s in order to reach a Low Earth Orbit (LEO).

Are SSTO possible?

Because they can be more energetic than the potential energy that chemical fuel allows for, some laser or microwave powered rocket concepts have the potential to launch vehicles into orbit, single stage. In practice, this area is not possible with current technology.

How fast is Kerbal orbit?

A semi-synchronous orbit with an orbital period of ½ of Kerbin's rotation period (2 h 59 m&nbsp34. 7 s or 10774.7 seconds) is achieved at an altitude of 1 581.76 km with an orbital velocity of 1 272.28 m/s.

What is starshot KSP?

The Starshot-32 is a firework launcher that added in the 1.12 update on June 24th, 2021. The firework launcher can launch up to 32 customizable fireworks. They can be launched anywhere but the firework effects only work in an atmosphere.

Does NASA use KSP?

Doug Ellison notes that many at NASA use KSP to experiment in ways that their more unforgiving real world environment wouldn't allow them to do.

Did NASA make KSP?

NASA reached out to Squad, the company that develops KSP, in 2013 to implement its Asteroid Redirect Mission into the game. Players can use NASA-based technologies to perform their own asteroid redirect mission.

Can you land on JOOL Kerbal?

With pressure limits turned off, a spacecraft will descend beyond the datum elevation, since Jool has no solid surface to land on, and will explode when reaching the altitude of -250 m. The message "... collided with Cloud" will be displayed in the mission summary.

Is Starship an SSTO?

No, not yet. The Artemis HLS refers to 2 specific spacecraft that SpaceX has a contract with NASA to build to land on the moon. Those spacecraft are variants of Starship. SpaceX is currently building test versions of Starship and it's booster called Super Heavy.

What are the drawbacks of single stage rocket?

It is not possible to inject a satellite into low-earth orbit with a single rocket stage using the current level of technology. Single-stage rockets demonstrate limited performance, since the rocket engines must accelerate the entire structural weight from the surface of the earth to orbital velocity.

What is the most powerful engine in SFS?

The Titan Engine is the largest and most powerful engine in the game, producing 400 tons of thrust.

What is the most powerful solid rocket engine?

The most powerful solid-propellant rocket, and the most powerful rocket motor ever constructed, is the SLS Five-Segment Booster (also known as the Five Segment Reusable Solid Rocket Motor, or RSRMV), built by Northrop Grumman (USA) for NASA's Space Launch System (SLS) super-heavy rocket.

What engine does Centaur use?

Engine System

The Pratt & Whitney RL10A-4 engine is a common element between the Titan Centaur, Atlas III and V family of vehicles. The Titan Centaur uses the RL10A- 4-1A. The Atlas IIIA and IIIB vehicles use the RL10A-4-1B version of this engine, which was flight proven on the inaugural IIIA and IIIB launches.

How much HP is good for a street car?

On public roads, vehicles with around 400 horsepower fall into the perfect sweet spot of offering useable performance that's actually enjoyable.

How much HP is a spaceship?

How much horsepower do the shuttle's main engines produce at the time of lift off? The three space shuttle main engines generate the maximum equivalent of about 37 million horsepower.
