Is M-2 motorway open today?

Conversation. Road Update: Currently M-2 (Islamabad-Lahore) Motorway and M-3 (Lahore-Abdul Hakeem) Motorway is open for all type of traffic.

We expect to finish most of the work on this section by the latter part of 2020, before opening it as a smart motorway during 2021. The eastern section is more complex due to a significant amount of bridge work and will open in 2022.

Why is there no M7 motorway?

Answer: A motorway just relates to the A road that it's relieving pressure from. The reason there is no M7 is that the A7, which runs from Carlisle to Edinburgh has no need for a motorway to relieve it.
