As much as you give it. With virtual machines RAM is user configurable. For decent performance at least 8GB would be recommended if you have a computer with 16GB or more. Linux in general works best with at least 4GB of RAM, but it all depends on the workload.

Of course, this also depends on how much RAM you allow/allocate every of those VMs to use. You cannot set each VM to use 16 GB of RAM, and expect 3 or 4 VMs to run fine, not unless you have more than 32 GB of RAM, such as 64 GB. It also depends on what will be actively running inside those VMs.
