Is UMD library open to public?

Visitors can use our items on site during regular library hours. Items held at Severn Library need to be requested in advance. Check out books through our Community Borrowers Program. Guest access to university databases is available on-site by requesting a guest login at our service desks.

Visitors are welcome to explore the 1st and 2nd Floors of this iconic building, which are designed for collaboration, social learning, and user/staff interaction. Because Floors 4-8 are designated for quiet or silent study, visitors are not permitted on these upper floors.

Defined as any individual under 17 years of age, juveniles are not allowed out unsupervised beginning at 11:59 PM on Friday and Saturday nights, and ending at 5:00 AM. During the week, the curfew is even earlier at 10:00 PM.

Sponsored guests are welcome in all Campus Recreation Services facilities and may participate in scheduled fitness classes. However guests under the age of 18 are not permitted in weight rooms, fitness rooms, saunas, fitness classes, or the climbing wall area.
