How do I connect my Tor relay?

Under the "Bridges" section, locate the option "Choose from Tor Browser's one of built-in bridges" and click on "Select a Built-In Bridge" option. From the menu, select whichever pluggable transport you'd like to use. Once you've selected the pluggable transport, scroll up and click "Connect" to save your settings.

Why does Tor use 3 relays?

Tor uses only three relays by default because that's the bare minimum you need for safety. You can always use moreā€¦at a price. One would be pointless, since whoever operates that node you chose will see everything. Two is dangerous, because the entry and exit nodes would then be directly connected.

Because Tor has been used for illegal activities, some ISP might throttle or block Tor traffic. Thanks to onion routing, your ISP can't know which site you're visiting or read your traffic. However, ISP will know that you're using Tor. This is because the IP addresses of Tor's nodes are publicly available.

Can Tor traffic be decrypted?

Tor prevents eavesdroppers from learning sites that you visit. However, information sent unencrypted over the internet using plain HTTP can still be intercepted by exit relay operators or anyone observing the traffic between your exit relay and your destination website.

How much bandwidth does a Tor relay use?

The minimum requirements for a relay are 10 Mbit/s (Mbps). If you have less than 10 Mbit/s but at least 1 Mbit/s we recommend you run a bridge with obfs4 support.
