Why NSX-T is better than NSX-V?

It is designed for different virtualization platforms and multi-hypervisor environments and can also be used where NSX-v is not feasible to deploy. NSX-T supports network virtualization stack for KVM, Docker, Kubernetes and OpenStack as well as AWS native workloads.

What is the T in NSX-T?

The “T” in NSX-T stands for “Transformers.” Intuitively, NSX-“Transformers” allows the solution to transform beyond the initial use case of network virtualization with VMware vSphere and into the realm of public cloud and modern containerized workloads.

What is T1 router in NSX-T?

An NSX-T T1 logical router has downlink connections to the attached NSX-T segments and uplink connections to a single T0 logical router. The NSX Edge Nodes provide the compute capacity for the T1 logical routers. Each T1 logical router contains a service router (SR) and a distributed router (DR), same as with T0s.

What is the difference between VMware NSX and NSX-T?

The major difference with NSX-T and NSX-V is that NSX-T is “unlocked” from VMware vSphere. In other words, you don't have to have a vCenter Server in order to deploy NSX-T. This allows VMware to move into new territory in the cloud and more hybrid infrastructure.

Will there be a 3rd gen NSX?

Official word from the car manufacturer is that it is not planning a third generation of the NSX.

What are all the NSX versions?

There are four general VMware NSX editions: Standard, Advanced, Enterprise and Remote Office/Branch Office. Each edition is designed for different contexts and companies with features that match their particular use cases. Primarily, the differences between the NSX-T and NSX-V editions have to do with core dependencies.

What are the benefits of NSX-T?

NSX-T enables organizations to design, deploy, and operate modern applications typically containing different infrastructure elements such as virtual machines (VMs), containers, and bare metal workloads. NSX-T provides a consistent networking and security framework, no matter where workloads are deployed.

What is NVDS in NSX-T?

NSX-T Virtual Distributed Switch or N-VDS

In NSX-T Transport Zone can span endpoints across different platforms or multiple vSphere vCenter hence N-VDS is correlated to a transport zone and created when the transport zone is created.

What is DR and SR in NSX-T?

It runs as a kernel module and is distributed in hypervisors across all transport nodes, including Edge nodes. The DR provides EastWest routing capabilities for the NSX domain. An SR, also referred to as a services component, is instantiated when a service is enabled that cannot be distributed on a logical router.

How much does NSX-T cost?

According to research, the base price of the NSX-T was roughly $80,000 at the time, which would be around $130,000 in 2020.

Is NSX a hypervisor?

The NSX distributed firewall is a hypervisor kernel-embedded firewall that spreads over the VMware ESXi A network administrator can create custom firewall policies that are enforced at the virtual network interface card level.
