Is NSX-V still supported?
VMware® support for all new VMware NSX-V deployments ended on 16 January 2022. Beginning on 21 June 2022, you can no longer order new VMware vCenter Server® with NSX-V instances. However, VMware and IBM worked closely to extend the existing NSX–V support until 31 December 2023.
What is the difference between NSX-V and NSX-T?
VMware NSX requires multiple tools to cover the entire hybrid data center environment. This means NSX-V for ESXi hosts, NSX-T for bare-metal servers, and NSX-Cloud for VMware cloud hosting.
What is NSX-V VMware?
Build a cloud smart network with networking and security that enables consistent policy, operations, and automation across multiple cloud environments.
Why NSX-T is better than NSX-V?
It is designed for different virtualization platforms and multi-hypervisor environments and can also be used where NSX-v is not feasible to deploy. NSX-T supports network virtualization stack for KVM, Docker, Kubernetes and OpenStack as well as AWS native workloads.
Can NSX-V and NSX-T coexist?
Some customers choose to introduce NSX-T alongside NSX-V. They can coexist and even connect to the same vCenter if the workloads are in different clusters.
Why upgrade from NSX-V to NSX-T?
Without the flexibility, NSX-V keeps you from expanding your environment to more than a single on-premises vCenter infrastructure. NSX-T and its dynamic nature let you expand to the cloud, integrate into a container environment, or have NSX across multiple hypervisors.
What is the difference between NSX and NSX-V?
NSX Manager lets you deploy controllers, edge distributed routers, and generate certificates. In NSX-V, the NSX Manager works with one vCenter Server as one virtual machine. In the case of NSX-T, the NSX-T Manager can be connected to multiple vCenters as a KVM or ESXi VM, for example.
Does NSX use VXLAN?
VMware NSX-V uses VXLAN for the network overlay encapsulation technology. It allows creating isolated multi-tenant broadcast domains and enables customers to have the ability to create logical networks that span between physical networks and underlying network locations.
Is VMware 5 still supported?
General support for VMware vSphere ESXi version 5.5 ended September 9, 2018. General support for ESXi v 5.0 and 5.1 ended August 24, 2016.
What is VSP VMware?
VMware offers vision coverage through the Vision Service Plan (VSP). There are two plans to choose from: Core and Buy-Up. The Buy-Up Plan offers a higher level of benefits for lenses, contacts and frames.
Is Hyper-V or VMware better?
VMware supports more operating systems, including Windows, Linux, Unix, and macOS. On the other hand, Hyper-V support is limited to Windows plus a few more, including Linux and FreeBSD. If you require broader support, especially for older operating systems, VMware is a good choice.
Can we upgrade NSX-V to NSX-T?
Another approach to migrating over to NSX-T is using the NSX-T's built in Migration Coordinator tool. The Migration Coordinator tool, available since the 2.4 release of NSX-T, helps in replacing NSX-V, in place on existing hardware, with NSX-T.
Does NSX support Hyper-V?
For routing, NSX-T supports equal-cost multipath routing (ECMP) for increased bandwidth and availability. Admins can enable the Hyper-V Network Virtualization role on Hyper-V hosts. Microsoft also offers a Network Controller role that admins can run in a VM that's running on a Hyper-V host.
Is NSX part of VCF?
VCF is based on different components like vSphere (compute), vSAN (storage), NSX (networking), and some parts of the Aria Suite (formerly vRealize Suite). The idea of VCF follows a standardized, automated, and validated approach that simplifies the management of all the needed software-defined infrastructure resources.
Is VMware 5 still supported?

What are the benefits of NSX-V?
NSX-V offers rich features such as deployment reconfiguration, rapid provisioning, and destruction of any on-demand virtual network. This allows a single virtual switch to connect to multiple hosts in a cluster by utilizing the vSphere distributed switch.
Which Is Better Hyper V or VMware?
Both the products offer different features and benefits based on your requirements. If you have handled a large organization and want to manage a wider virtual ecosystem, you can use VMware Workstation, but if you are a small or medium scale business, then selecting Hyper-V can be effective.
Is VMware 7 free?
Is VMware Free? VMware ESXi is free, which is the hypervisor product from VMware, and so is VMware player which you can use to run virtual machines on your Windows or Linux desktop. Other VMware products provide 60 day free trial.
Which is newer NSX-V or NSX-T?
VMware NSX-v is specific to vSphere hypervisor environments and was developed before NSX-T. NSX-T (NSX-Transformers) was designed for different virtualization platforms and multi-hypervisor environments and can also be used in cases where NSX-v is not applicable.
Is Hyper-V outdated?
While Microsoft has discontinued the Hyper-V Free SKU, they are still allowing you to purchase Windows Server 2022 and install the Hyper-V role to get the features you're used to.
