Does WireGuard work with dynamic IP?
Even if you are using a dynamic DNS service to register a hostname for your WireGuard server, the WireGuard client normally only resolves that hostname once at startup. That means you might need to restart the WireGuard client every time the server's dynamic IP changes.
Does WireGuard need static IP?
WireGuard currently uses static addresses everywhere. This is because that is mostly a better way to design your network. But in some cases, insane people want dynamic IP addresses or other dynamic configuration.
Does WireGuard change your IP address?
As discussed in previous sections, WireGuard relies on statically assigned tunnel IP addresses, while other protocols like OpenVPN and IPSec, can change the tunnel IP address on every connection.
Does OpenVPN work with dynamic IP?
Dynamic and Static IP Address Networks
By default, users connecting to your Access Server are assigned IP addresses dynamically, managed by OpenVPN Access Server. This is similar to an internal DHCP system and the default subnet for any new server is set to 172.27. 224.0/20.
